Open ASNB on MAE from RM10: Steps, RM1 Fee and Cashback
Malaysian first-time investors can open an ASNB account on MAE from RM10, but withdrawals still need a branch or ASNB office visit.

What happened1/6 ASNB account on MAE from RM10, no branch visit
First-time investors in Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) can now open an account on the MAE app from as little as RM10, without stepping into a branch. You need an existing Maybank current or savings account (Islamic accounts included) and must already be an MAE user.
The catch: MAE does not support ASNB withdrawals. You still need to go to a Maybank branch, an ASNB office, or an ASNB agent to take money out.
What to do, step by step2/6 How to open the ASNB account inside MAE
Two paths work. You must be Malaysian, 18 or older, with no existing ASNB account. The account has to be in your own name; you cannot open one for a spouse or child.
- Open MAE, tap Apply, go to the Investment tab, and select ASNB Account. Or tap Accounts, go to the Wealth tab, and select ASNB Accounts.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- Make your first investment within one year, or the account is closed. You can reapply on MAE afterwards.
- To top up later, go to Transfer under Quick Actions and select the ASNB tab.

RM1fee per ASNB transaction on MAERM3 or RM5cashback, first 15,000 new investorsRM250max prize per phase in ASNB unitsMaybank charges RM1 per successful fixed-price ASNB transaction on MAE. An 8% SST applies to that RM1 fee where applicable, not to the amount you invest. The fee is flat, so it eats a bigger slice of a small investment.
From 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, Maybank gives RM3 or RM5 cashback to new ASNB investors who open on MAE, limited to the first 15,000 investors. A separate prize draw, ASNB Invest & Win (1 September 2026 to 31 January 2027), gives one entry per two investments in a phase; 148 winners are drawn per phase, with prizes matching your investment up to RM250 in ASNB units.
How it affects your wallet4/6 The RM1 fee hits harder on small investments
Because the fee is fixed at RM1 regardless of how much you put in, the percentage cost changes a lot. e.g. On a RM10 investment, the RM1 fee is 10% of your money before SST. On a RM100 investment, the same RM1 is 1%. With 8% SST on the fee, the RM10 case costs about RM1.08 total.
If you are testing the app with RM10, the fee is a real chunk. If you are investing RM500 or more, the RM1 is noise. The cashback of RM3 or RM5 (for the first 15,000) more than covers the fee on small amounts, but it expires 31 January 2027.

Why it matters5/6 Which ASNB funds you can pick depends on your status
You can only invest in funds you qualify for. ASB and ASB 2 are restricted to Bumiputera investors. Other Malaysian citizens can choose from the ASM fund family.
The RM1 Maybank fee applies per transaction on MAE. It is charged by Maybank for processing the transaction through the MAE channel.
What to watch6/6 Two deadlines end on 31 January 2027
The RM3/RM5 cashback for new MAE ASNB investors closes 31 January 2027, capped at 15,000 participants. The ASNB Invest & Win prize draw also closes the same day; its phases run from 1 September 2026.
Separately, if you open an account but do not invest within one year, MAE closes it. You can reapply, but the cashback window may already be gone.
